Did you know there were this many unpaved roads in Bucks County?

​The courses start at the Delaware Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Erwinna, PA,  and travel through many Bucks County rural townships. The routes pass through scenic farmland, past pre-revolutionary houses, and through villages such as Ferndale, Kintersville, and Ottsville.

All of the roads are public roads and trails.  The unpaved sectors include dirt, gravel, hardscrabble, and tow path. Everything is suitable for road bikes, but we highly suggest tires 28mm or wider to increase comfort, improve traction/handling, and to reduce the possibility of punctures.  There are some sections that have dense gravel.

The Short, Medium and Long courses are very challenging with quite a few technical sections, thus it is only suitable for experienced cyclists with good levels of fitness.  Provisionally, according to Ride With GPS, the Long Course is 81 miles long with 6800′ of climbing and has >23 miles of unpaved roads (29%), the Medium Course is 57 miles long with 5000′ of climbing and has 20 miles of unpaved roads (35%) and the Short Course is 34 miles long with 3000′ of climbing and 12.5 miles of unpaved roads (37%).

The Long Course has 3 aid stations, the Medium Course has 2 aid stations, while the Short Course has 1 aid station.

The 21-mile Family Ride is mostly flat, and is suitable for cyclists of all levels of experience and ability, and has 1 aid stations.  It is an out and back course which is mostly on the D&L Towpath, which is crushed gravel.  You can make this route shorter by turning around at any time on the outbound section, but the aid station is at the turnaround.  

All Riders must be off the courses by 3:30, at which time the courses are closed.

The Courses will NOT be marked; cue sheets, and GPS files will be available, along with free use of the RideWithGPS App on ride day.

This is a ride, and not a race, and the roads are open to normal vehicular traffic.  You are expected to obey all rules of the road.
